MusicSpan
Your music library, your playlists and your family’s listening – in one place you run yourself.
MusicSpan is a music player and library manager for Windows, with a companion server you run on your own network storage (NAS) and an app for Android phones. It plays the music you own, keeps its tags, lyrics and artwork in order, and brings in the playlists you’ve made on streaming services – without moving your music into anyone else’s cloud.
Your library, organized
Plays your own files, finds lyrics (synced for karaoke), fixes tags and artwork, and flags explicit songs.
Your streaming playlists
Each person can link their own YouTube to see their playlists and likes in MusicSpan. Access is read-only.
Friends & Family
Share music with the people you choose, each on their own registered device, with Clean only listening where you want it.
Runs at home
The MusicSpan server answers only on your home network or your own private VPN – never the open internet.
How your information is handled
MusicSpan runs on computers you own. Consilience Advisory does not operate a MusicSpan cloud service and does not receive your music, your playlists or your account information. When someone links their YouTube, MusicSpan only reads it – it never posts, deletes or changes anything there – and that access is stored on the MusicSpan server in your home. Anyone can unlink at any time. The full details are in the MusicSpan Privacy Policy.
MusicSpan uses YouTube API Services. By linking YouTube you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google’s handling of your data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
